Since I have the Marshall micro stack with 2-10" I favor this one.

Damn that is cool!

LOL....If that Ampeg is anything close to the Marshall it'll blow you away.
As cute as the Marshall is, it is not a toy.

I almost ordered the Ampeg a few weeks ago. I may yet ...then a micro drum kit? LOL

I have always thought  Ampeg was the old school go to amp for average gigs. Lots of others though. I don't see how you would necessarily go wrong with that amp Rain. When recording bass The drier the better if you are intending to play with it in the mix JMHO. Playing for practice small gigs, meh...almost any small cube will do IMO.

Congrats! I heard Apple upgraded Logic!

A SVT turned up to 0.125 playing into an Altec 400 series speaker is a thing of beauty.

It is like the Teddy Roosevelt of bass tone.

Seems nice - too bad he didn't demo the two smaller speaker configurations though.  That always makes you susp!cious whether they bring it or not - lol!

I had a Traynor back @'68 with 4-12".  I was 13+ and anything big was good to me. It looked like a Fender and a gift from my folks so I was good to go. Can't remember when but replaced it pretty quick with an Acoustic 150..2 cabs with 6-10s in ea. IIRC. I really don't remember what was in them.

I did play a Traynor which belonged to the high school I went to - because I didn't have an amp and could only afford to rent one for a few days a couple of times a year.

Come to think of it, the bass player in my band also used to borrow the bass amp from school - can't remember which brand but it wasn't too good.

Maybe things changed but back then, Traynor didn't have a very good rep. The one thing I remember about the one I used was that it was indestructible.

The newer Ampeg stuff is a pretty good buy. They actually sell parts for them and I think Loud technologies is now the parent co.

The little bass mate combos that Mike showed are really great for home use. They're killer little guitar amps too, and of course all tube. At my place I use an old Fender bandmaster @ 30 watts with a single 15. Works great for jams and recording.

Buying used will get you the very best deal. I'd imagine Vegas has lots of outlets for used music gear. Pawn shops, alleys and casinos parking lots come to mind.

The only issue w/ shopping in Vegas is that everything is as far from everything else as possible. You can't just go "downtown", park the car and just walk to the stores you want to see. Everything is as decentralized as it gets. So doing the pawn shop circuit or even just a few of them takes quite a bit of time, and w/ my wife doing 10 very demanding shows a week, we don't get many opportunities to shop around.
