My family owns two electric guitars- a decent Aspen and a Yamaha. Both pretty inexpensive. I was fed up with the Aspen (which is the only one I'm allowed to use) missing the "G" string. However, the Yamaha also was missing "D" and "A".
So I snatched up the D string and used it as a G. Ever had a similar experience?

(grin;-) yeah... I used to steal banjo strings off my brother's boat paddle...
That was in the early 60's before slinky strings were available... 

I could be wrong but I think that's illegal in a few states.

I think I dated a girl that used one as a G-string back in the '80's.
