I can't get any sound out of Reaktor 5 in stand-alone mode or with Sonar. All the I/O settings appear to be correct: ASIO, midi controller recognized and set to On, etc. The midi signal light goes on when I press the keyboard but nobody's home. All the other instruments that came with Komplete 7 work in stand-alone mode and in Sonar.

The other weird thing I noticed after I loaded Komplete into this new homebuilt machine was that in Sonar the labeling for the multi outs versions of Kontakt do not appear in the soft synth selections, just versions of "Kontakt 4."

These issues are part of a recent series of oddball occurrences  - Faderport problem, which appears to be fixed, and this rather strange thing http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2779090

You've definitely got a sound source loaded in Reaktor? Seems obvious I know but you never know.

Yes, but thanks for the reminder. I'm using the same settings as another computer as well, which works. I might try another controller, but I can't see what that might do. I've probably done something odd, though, knowing my recent history.

Managed to get sound out of Reaktor. I couldn't work out why, until I finally realized that I'd been attempting to load in instruments (with an .ins extension - such as Carbon 2) rather than ensembles (.ens; again Carbon 2). Instruments don't load with "outs" - meaning that my initial statement/assumption about I/O settings was wrong. Same name, different extension. Note to self: Must...read...manual...again.

LOL....Sometimes, we tend to overthink problems and not think about the basics.  Glad you got it working.

That's why I asked about the sound source! Handy tip is to watch a walkthrough of any synths you buy on Youtube. Reaktor isn't an intuitive plug-in when you first open it. People have been sectioned after using Reaktor. Just ask my nurse.

Instrument/ensemble confusion is mandatory for new Reaktor users. Congratulations!

PS if you have the Groove3 pass then watch their Reaktor course. This is the most complex and powerful instrument in Komplete and will keep you occupied and fascinated for years if you unlock it's full potential. And don't forget to check out the Reaktor user library for thousands more weird, wonderful and usable instruments, effects and ensembles!

Thanks, strikingly. Yes, very good call. I was about to be carted off but your words continued to ring in my ears. Much appreciated.

Will definitely watch. I never experienced the issue on my other machine, which I guess really means I never experienced Reaktor in the true sense. Cheers,

Yep. Must have thunk this one to the ground. Finally came up for air, and in that brief moment of clarity, equilibrium was restored.
