O.K. here we go. I have a release of Sonar 7PE. I am wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded from Vista Ultimate 64Bit to Win7 Ultimate 64Bit, as Sonar does not support this. I am just wondering, thanks. Understand, please, I mean a fresh new install and not an upgrade, as in just throwing in a disc or downloading an upgrade over the top of Vista, but a clean wipe and install of everything.

If you perform an upgrade install, you're literally begging for issues.
Bite-the-bullet and perform a clean install.
Yes, it takes considerably more time up-front... but you'll know that you're good.
Time well spent...

When you're finished, create a backup image file of the boot HD... and you're set/safe moving into the future.

Jim, I agree and am sorry for any confusion. I would not do an "upgrade". I would do a new install. I have to first speak with Cakewalk, as I am unsure of the rules for my release regarding installs, but believe I should be fine. I will say that Sonar does NOT support Win7 for my release. At least that is what I have read on Sonar's website and believe that a discussion with them about three years ago turned up the same result.

There is certainly a risk. Sonar 7 will never have been tested on Windows 7, I think 8.5 was the first tested on Windows 7,

Why not upgrade to SONAR X2. I know you going to love it!

Try the DEMO!

Thanks Freddie H, I am trying to make what I have work, without spending any money, unless absolutely necessary, and to do it in steps, not just buy a new OS, new APP and why not a new PC at that. You're right though, I would love it.
