  • Ignite Amps SHB-1 - good for DI bass recordings

I'm typically not a fan of free plugins, but the Ignite Amps SHB-1
sounds pretty good on DI bass recordings.

Toughens up and rounds out the dynamics a bit... without altering the character too much.
Sounds good without any cab sim.
A bit like a virtual SansAmp RPM... although better sounding to my ears.

Was hoping to like their Pultec and Guitar amp plugs... but didn't really care for those.

I'll give it a whirl Jim.

Thanks for the input.

Well I guess the beauty of so many plugs (free or not) is that some will swear by certain plugs and others will think "meh".

This is a nice plug, probably not my new go to. But I'll keep it around for those times when other things are just not cutting it and give this another try.

In all fairness I just tried it on a song that I felt I had the bass "locked in" and so I may have been biased.

Yep, I use this some with a Ampeg 8x10 IR from redwirez. I also like the B.O.D sansamp plugin....it's another good free one.

I like both the SHB-1 and the B.O.D. sansamp free plug. Their tube screamer plug ?TSE-999 or something like that, is good also.
