I don't own Spectrasonics.

That may be the answer (for me).

I been doing some tutorials and I just noticed a menu item in PT11 that is very useful: Remove duplicate MIDI notes.

In SONAR you do that by searching out and running the undupe.cal routine using the no longer supported, officially deprecated .cal macros.

WTF was I thinking? :-)

I think I really, really, really liked SONAR's layers feature but layers is was.

I wonder if I can still upgrade to this "magic" version 8.5.3?  (I'm STILL on v4 Producer and it still works.)

Bat I don't care what others or doing, what they are doing it with or how they are doing it.
Those are not questions for me. X2a will not do what I want to do on my old PC and it will not do it
on my new one. If using Spectrasonics stuff is the only reason...it is the only reason.

Ed I appreciate the suggestions but I've decided what I will be doing.
You have mentioned an option that I'm considering to be the best...move on now.
Sounds like a winner.

V4 came with a chisel and stone, no?

Hi Michael,

I don't see myself using it much but Studio One seems awesomely smooth and easy. It seems like it's fun for jamming. I had the Artist version on my laptop and used it too manage some practice files and record dubs of guitar jams.

I'm looking forward to trying out it's *mastering* layout for assembling collections.

If you want to use Spectasonics you should probably steer clear of PT11 until there is a 64bit AAX port for the synth.

If you were to go with PT you might want to grab the combo PT 10.36 32bit/with upgrade to PT 11 (x64) that has been available as a limited time offer. 10.36 will run the RTAS.

SONAR 8.5 is running great on my new system, but I am daily reminded that every bug in it is in it for ever.

best regards,
mike

Sorry to hear that the new hardware has not proved any help.

I do hear you though X2a does seem to like to crash for no good reason either total lock-up or blue screen which is usually meaningless as it never actually names what killed it.

I have found if I leave the PC alone for about 2 minuets after boot and login it is a little more stable but still if the day has a Y in it's name and you are running SONAR X2a producer you should be prepared for the WTF moment.

There will always be a place here in the CH for you to rest your bones stay safe.

You've got a chisel?

Hmm...  Sounds like a good reason to upgrade...
