Been sitting here jamming for about an hour and having a blast with the lap steel. It's all about the slides, something I've never been able to do convincingly with sample libraries before.
Hey Bitflipper!  Where did you install the lap steel files?  I got the download link for two files (Engine and samples).  I was not sure about whether to extract them into separate or one common folder.  When I put them in a common folder and clicked on the nki file in Kontakt library page, I got an error.  So how and to where did you install them?  BTW I am using Kontakt 4.2.3.  Thanks.

My file structure looks like this:
\OTS
        \Lap Steel
                  {nki, nkr and nkc files}
                  \Data
                  \Demo Song
                  \Documentation
                  \Samples

The important thing is to make sure the Samples folder is beneath the directory containing the instrument definition file.

Thanks bitflipper! Yup, you want to install the engine and samples RAR archives into the same folder so they get combined. As for the error when loading, that just means that you need to update Kontakt through the NI Service Center to the latest version (4.2.4).

Thanks--this did it.  Sounds great.  Agree with that maj min, dim chord feature--really nice.   Now if I could only play like Steve Howe ["And you and I" or "Going for the One"].

Having heard and seen Steve Howe, I wish I could get the same results. He and Gilmour took the lap steel to a new level of sound that's much larger than life.

Nice!  Would never have guess that this was sampled and not a live guitar player. Love the Steel Guitar.  I think I will eventually get Strawberry.  BTW, I think the amps/speakers and effects that come with Steel Guitar are nice.  I did use it with Scuffham S-Gear and got some nice overdriven tones, but the ones right out of the box with Steel Guitar are very usable.

I'm still waiting to hear Bitflipper channel some Gilmour Floydstreams.

I'll be getting the Lap steel any day now, and I think also, per Bit's recommendation, UberMod. I was pretty impressed w/some of the UM demos.

TheoK yamaha pacifica was a great free library.

He actually released an update in the last days of his site.

Did anyone ever get that?
