A piece of "Software" wins the best of show?

It's the end of times.

Nice...

Anyone know how the IK British Channel compares to the Waves or UAD?

Lots of SSL emus out there ...  not only those three but also Duende Native and don't forget PC4K!

FWIW, I remember reading recently someone (maybe on GS) comparing the IK, Waves, and UAD strips ... the gist of it was that they're about equivalent in quality but have some minor differences.  Of course, the best thing to do is download demos and try them yourself.  Would be interested to hear what you think, and how they rate against Cake's effort.  (Don't forget that equal control settings don't necessarily result in equal internal parameter values -- best to compare by ear.  You undoubtedly know this already.)

If IK would come out with an SSL bus comp, you'd have an affordable alternative to the Waves SSL package.  I just hope they tone down the graphics!  :-)  Speaking of the bus comp, the Duende usually gets better reviews than the Waves, but both are outdone by The Glue, if forum chatter is any indication.  Anyway, good luck and have fun!

Cheers,
Eddie

Edit: P.S.  Back on topic, congrats to Waves for the NAMM award ... as a fan of the Artist Sig plugins, I'm looking forward to trying out those new toys, which look different and more useful than the existing lineup.

I agree with this Eddie...at least they are divided into "useful" tools...as opposed to "Tweakable Artist Chains"...

But, the proof will be in the "putting"

The concept of on the fly swap outs of EFX algorithms in response to input settings seems really cool.

Seems like some kinda new fangled genius could make a brand new shiny version of a dsp pack that did all this with out any reference to swapping out hard ware.

It could just be good sounding... and be able to swap out algorithms... when there was a better suggestion for any specific task.

best regards,

I've seen that little waves guy in a couple of promo videos now and while he may be a swell egg...he gives me the heebie jeebies.  There's just an undertone of snarky, aren't I neat sort of vibe I get.  Go figure.
