Hi,
I think I'm going to buy this Epiphone AlleyKat. Anyone with experience with this guitar?

It is a nice looking guitar.

I haven't played one but I've read many excellent reviews about it.

Without the Bigsby like the Wildkat is cool...I'd probably enjoy either.

I think the combination of the mini HB and the '57 is a good setup.
I've read it was built like a tank with a great playing neck.

Not sure I'd like the volume location but no biggy and I'd check the
nut which is probably the only issue and detail I'd be concerned with.

Having a cool looking guitar is obviously a plus.... but... more importantly, how does it sound?

Don't know yet. I'll try it Saturday. I found this one on our local version of Ebay. The seller reserved it for me.

How does it sound?....well I'll go out on a limb with that...

With that pup combination you'll be able to cover a lot of ground...from jazz to ear splittin' loud n boomers.
Unless those pups are made wrong and I doubt that or somebody messed with the controls.
And being a Korean make a re-wire with some quality pots ( a few dollars) and that baby should sing
nice if it doesn't already.

If I turn out to be wrong....have at it. :)

Last Saterday I tried and bought the Alleycat.

It is indeed a very well build guitar with a lovely playable neck and low action.
Now it also sounds good. I like the neck pickup, the mini humbucker. Very rich tone.
The bridge pickup I like a little less. To me it has too much mid , and no low or high, though I haven't tried it yet on a serious amp.

I know I have to do some work on this guitar. The Treble/Rhythm swith is faulty, I don't trust the tone pot because it doesn't roll of high frequencies the way I expect it, and I don't trust the pot of the bridge pickup.
I don't mind doing some work on this guitar since it iwas only €270. So I'm thinking of replacing all electronics except for the mini humbucker.
Problem is I don't have any experience replacing pots and pickups and I don't know what type and brand pots I should order.
I also don't know what bridge pickup I should choose for this guitar.

It is a tricky job but doable.
Tricky being all the fishing.

CTS pots and shaft choice is length and knob type (split shaft or not). Value is commonly 500k for
double coil pups. (250k for singles- think Gibson and Fender lol)

Stew has good material at reasonable prices and also some pertinent info.
Seymour has something that may help you with the sound you're after.

If you go for it at least there are plenty here to help you.
