To start I hand write my scores in pen not pencil I got "cp" and "trimmers"in my hand and grip my pencil tightly. Yeah sure I can use Finale but can't take laptop everywhere.

Anyway like Beethoven I use every inch of my paper and like Beethoven there few scratches on them. Now my teacher complains for it be perfect which stress me out. "Music is relaxing not stressfull"

So I need know will MusicScore or phtoscore let me remove scratches???
I downloaded Music Score "piano edtion" trial last night higlighted the scratches press delete which left big white blob. Press regonize the page came up yellow with staff under it. There was barley notes or anything in it. Could it be my printer???

Are is it easier to buy Sibelius or Finale notepad and just play it out?

Thanks

I don't know about notation software but I do have another option you could try.

Ok so here's what you do. When the teacher starts to complain, slap him upside the head.
Then raise you voice slightly and say "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?
I'm working on genius here and you're bickering about a few little scratches?
Maybe you're just not up to the task of teaching someone on my level. Now sit down, be quiet and watch the music flow."

If needed you can always remind him that "Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach."

Yeah?.................. Ok, maybe not.

Seriously, from what I've read here on these forums over the years it seems that Sibelius was liked more.
I just did a quick little Google here and found THIS article.
If you read some of the comments below the article you'll see that some people have a few other suggestions that may meet your needs.

Hope this helped a little at least.
And if you do decide to go with my first suggestion please come back and let us know how it went.

Haha right haha  And his notation is awkward to. He dosn't write ovels but puts line.
But over all he awsome guy and appreciate all he help me with to mature in my music.
To simple though he very nice about it he dosn't yell but ask why I write in pen lots.
And yes I'am genius I challenge him lots with my ideas way Beethoven challenge Hyadn.

There was no link
I heared good things about Sibiules but I'm thinking long term, me my teacher seem be going own way slowly. software I get need make sure long term.I buy Sibiules/Finale or Music score be usefull now but years later won't.
Other idea is DP8 not that Sonar bad.

IMO Sibelius is easily the best. Very powerful yet easy to understand and has the best built in library.  The only downside I know of it that it has problems with Re-Wire and Sonar.   DP8 looks interesting since it is a DAW with great video support as well.  Also Steinberg hired the entire London Sibelius staff when Avid moved them to Ukraine.  They are working on something in notation but no one knows what it is just yet.

Sibelius or Finale? Those are the two best to choose from.

photoscore and programs like it won't translate everything 100% into notation.

hard to say exactly what it would do without trying it, but it will probably interpret your "scratches" as something.

but there's ALWAYS some editing that has to be done after translation into notation.

My vote is for Sibiules, I had Notion and got Sibiules through a cross-grade and have never looked back. Been using Sibiules ever  since.

Ok I try out finale not hard as lot people made it seem. That my opinon, took me 2 minutes learn "haha" but again I'm using hyperscore when recording.
Here what I decided Digital performer 8, Cubase is to much not money wise but gear wise. I'm not mixing/mastering nor plan learn and don't all the VSTS. My decion is Finale Notepad why note pad again I' don't need all them VSTS I've got Synthogy Amercian Steinway. Most reason Finale is recording I'm only human not going have perfect time always and staff is lots easier read for me.

But thanks for advice I check all my options and no I didn't slap my teacher in the head, He understood said just try keep perfect much possible. Which is good he understands we became friends over years. All teachers I've met he worth the money and great friend. Thanks

Try both Finale and Sibelius for yourself, that's really the only way you'll know which one most closely matches your work habits!

I like Finale. I've been using it since somewhere around 2000, and it has had a 'checkered' history with updates. Some were killer great, some left me scratching my head wondering why?

BUT - just because none of the new features, or fixes, appealed to me it appears that they usually make at least some of their customers happy!

Even in the unbelievably small market that is musical score engraving there are a lot of folks with a lot of different ideas.

In 2008 I gave Sibelius another try because Finale 2008 was missing some feature (I think it was linked parts) that I was tired of waiting for. I never did get my head wrapped around Sibelius, and in 2009 (I think) Finale added linked parts, and I went back. I haven't purchased any subsequent updates because none of the new features have appealed to me - or appealed to me enough to convince me to open my wallet! I'll probably upgrade in the very near future to take advantage of the x64 version.
