  • Google search options changed? Did I do some thing or did they... getting Bing.

If I highlight something and click the little blue square I used to get an option to search with Google. Now I get an option to search with something called connectDLC customized web search. If I use it I go to Bing... I do not want to go to Bing, I want to got to Google. Is this my only option? I do not like having something forced on me. I will use something else if this is my only option here... but is this something I did or something Google did?
Thanks,
J

Can we get to the meat of the issue?

OK, it was an Add On. I got it on June 17.. I have no idea how it was Conduit and Connect DLC. Internet Options did not give me an option to removed it, only to disable it. So I got the folder location from properties and deleted both. I am going to restart and see if it is fixed...

If you're using IE - go to "manage add-ons" from the tools menu, choose search providers, make google your default if its listed or at the bottom of the page is a link to get more add-ons. Select google search and make it your default. I haven't heard of connectdlc before but if you don't know where it came from I would remove it from the search providers list.

EDIT: was a minute to slow posting!

Thanks Steve. I deleted the folders from Program Files but it was still there and still worked. It still shows up in "add ons" but it says that it is disabled, however it is not. It does not give me an option to remove it in "manage add ons" I was able to set Google as my default and now things are back like they were. I will try searching again and delete anything I find and if that does not work I will start in Safe Mode and see if I can remove it then. Will run Malwarebytes too... and CCleaner.
Thanks again!

Glad its back to normal. Malwarebytes would be a good idea.

Yaaa. I was able to remove it. I feel a little better. The NSA probably put it there, roight?
Going to hide now...

No...  You won't be able to find the one that the NSA put there.  Heck, you'd be lucky to find the ones that the IRS, CIA and FBI put there!
