It's IK Multimedia's SampleTank FREE, which has been around for a while but now has no restrictions - it's fully functional, just with a smaller sample library than the $200 product. I picked up Sampletank for fifty bucks in the recent group buy and it's turned out to be surprisingly useful.

thanks mister,im gonna try this out!

esoundz is selling some older libraries for $22 apiece that are compatible with SampleTank FREE. I have no idea if these are any good or not, but at that price it might be worth taking a chance.

I think you should have obtained a serial number via email. (I'm just guessing because I already had the full SampleTank product and have not obtained the free one.)

If you did not get one, email IKM support. They were pretty helpful when I had some download issues. Once you do get a serial number, you should be able to go to http://www.ikmultimedia.com/userarea and click on the "Product Registration" link on the left of the page.

Am I missing something?  Got it downloaded and installed and authorized.  I installed only the VST version  (the options were for DX, VST and RTAS).
However, there are no instruments.  The sampletank browser lists Effects, Images, Preferences and Presets but no instruments.  There is no instruments folder in the installation folder either.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Larry

& what i get it's a folder that is (SampleTank Free Sounds) & it is 557meg,

maybe look on your computer for C:\Program Files [SampleTank Free Sounds]

(hold on i will open an instance of SampleTank,in my sonar to see if there is a box where it have to point to the folder)

There is nothing named like that and nothing that large.  The installed folder is only 23MB and several of those MBs are the user manual.

There is a dll file in the Cakewalk VST folder.

yep larry

open an instance of sampletank, then look on the right of the plugin:

there is
all
relist
undo
net
prefs

click prefs:(preferences)

the box will open & then browse to find where the (SampleTank Free Sounds)folder is on your computer
