It sounds (not very) crazy, but I'm in a new musical project, and I need to rent or buy an accordion on the cheap. Don't need a super-professional one, but I prefer one with keys rather than buttons, being the pianist I am.
How cheap do they get? What brands are good? WHy the heck would I ask this in the CH?

You might find a good deal on Craigs List, but do your research online and see what fits your needs/price.

"WHy the heck would I ask this in the CH?" ......mebee a professional accordian aficionado in the CH might chime in?

Or.....find a good VST.......

Why would you ask here?  Because this is clearly a cry for help, that's why.  The Bakers didn't create a Squeezebox Support Group, so you're reaching out for a lifeline.

That's alright.  Who among us hasn't at one point thought about playing an unorthodox instrument such as an accordian or a bass?  Okay, so some of us haven't, but that's not the point.  You're among friends here.  Well, you're surrounded by people who will try not to mock any more than is absolutely necessary.  Okay, there are one or two of those.  Anyway, help is available if you really want it.  I'm not saying that it's useful help, but it's here regardless.

There was a post some time ago about someone who accidentally left their car unlocked in a bad neighborhood with an accordian in the backseat.  When they returned, there were two accordians.

Hope that helps.

I guess accordians are like anything else. The less expensive ones still sound like an accordian but are more flimsy and maybe harder to play because they aren't built as well....just a guess.

Have you considered buying a Kontakt sampled accordian?  Probably less expensive in the long run. If you need one for live use though, that might not work.

They probably have accordians in Italy, or in Europe somewhere. You will have to learn the beer-barrel polka though if buying one.

Of course there are other places doing a search also on the Internet.

Of course there is Germany and all the polka fans there also and polkas like the:
She's Too Fat Polka
and others.
