This is from Wavesfactory, famous for small, inexpensive but useful Kontakt sample libraries. I have several of them myself and will likely add this one as well (it's only $13). It's called "Classic Rock Drums", and it's a kit once played onstage by Bonzo himself. It doesn't get any more authentic than that!

And if you're into an earlier 60's Ringo-vibe, be sure to also check out the Tea Towel Drum kit while you're there. Also 10 euros ($13.62). Just throw on some heavy compression for the overheads and you're in 1965.

$13.62 to be exact. I'll give it a try at that price.

Thanks Bit.

I think you'll like this kit, guys.  As I posted earlier, I just dropped it into a rock mix I've been working on.  Started with a mixture of various SD2 kits, but couldn't quite get the snare and tom sounds I wanted.  This new kit fixed me right up ... a bit of EQ and I've got the drums I was looking for.  Kept the kick and cymbals I was using, but the new snare has that classic 70s dry thwack and the toms are nice and tight.

The kick sound was too boomy for this particular track, but it'll have its place.  Bonham would be happy.

I was less thrilled with the cymbals, but that's one area where SD2 shines (specifically the Music City SDX).  Anyway, this new WavesFactory offering is a no-brainer for sure!  All Kontakt users should certainly check it out.

Cheers,
Eddie

This is the right price all right.....I am just having difficulty getting them to download.....

I also like Lyrical Distortion for "Some" of their libraries.....most are $19.00 and of them some sound really good while others.....well..........and then they ave a couple for $199.00 which do sound nice but are out of my justifiable price range........

I've got all the Lyrical Distortion libs. Hard to resist for $19 (they've been on sale in the past for, IIRC, $10). Some of them are flawed (fret buzzes, out-of-tune notes and stuck notes) but they're cheap and they sound pretty good. Ripper Amped is the one I've found the most use for (miked from a Mesa Boogie, so no amp sim required - just one tone but it's a good one).

As long as we're on the subject of cheap Kontakt libraries we might as well mention Sampletekk here, just in case there's anyone who doesn't know about them already. They specialize in pianos and have regular half-price sales. Most of my pianos are from Sampletekk and none cost more than $25.

Another favorite source of inexpensive libraries is Indiginous. There are several useable libs there for $5. Check out the new Solid State Symphony for 40 bucks. And for those looking for more electric guitar sources, Torch is a cheap ($40) alternative to fancier libraries such as OTS EEG.

Hi Bit
I would like to just add a couple more cheap places:-
Hollow Sun
Hideaway Studio
Sampleism (all sorts of weird stuff from total rubbish to really funky stuff)
Precision Sound
Rythmic Robot

Dave, this was posted HERE and I said there that I thought the toms were boomy. But upon second listen I like them and so I bought them (uhhhh DUH!!!). The .nkm provided needs to be setup properly. It's setup to be multiple outs but all kit pieces are routed to a single out.

Thanks for the input......right now I am looking for good quality Guitar Libs.....inexpensive as possible with out getting cheap......

I need a High quality Classical guitar, A good rock guitar (both distorted and clean and maybe even like a Les Paul and a strat) and one GOOD Bass lib.....

Preferably all for Kontakt.......but not essential.....

Clifford, if you haven't explored the libs in Dim Pro already, you might find some stuff in there that you like, particularly guitar and bass sounds.

Failing that, I second Bit's recommendation for Indiginus -- very good value.

Back to the original topic, the WF Classic Rock drums are still sounding good to me.  I'm getting some funkyness in the crash cymbals, and the miking is a little weird (I'm getting LOTS of bleed) but other than that they're quite usable.  A plus for this set, being in Kontakt, is that I can use NI's fx such as Transient Master, which I find easier to dial in than the Sonalksis equivalent in SD2.

Cheers,
Eddie
