yesterday I sat through a conference call about company business.
I walked out.

The story of how bad the economy is (world market) and cost cutting was just
more than I wanted to hear. At least coming from the mouths of those that
line their pockets while making waste of everything around them.
Their idea of "cost cutting" isn't controlling their stupidity- it's get rid of the
working man and it was nothing more than a re-run of the same ol song and dance.

Monday will start the swinging of the axe and heads will roll...to keep those
least deserving healthy to run their mouths and line their pockets.
Since they are idiots that do the swinging nobody is safe from their planned 3 day madness.

I totally get where you're coming from man.
The corporate world is the bane of civilization AFAIK.. ok maybe a bit dramatic, but you get the picture.

I have been through the exact same scenerio multiple times where I work.
I am sickened by it.
I have finally thrown my arms up in disgust at SR management as they have continued to jerk us around endlessly.
The only reason I stay is that I am 3 years away from early retirement.
Nothing else I could go do will pay me what I make.
Each day is a major challenge anymore.
I go in, I do the best work I can do so I can still look myself in the mirror, then I walk out and mutter  -1

Spacey I hope you are not adversely affected by this.

Dave

Good luck to both of you and everyone--since this is a global problem.  I'm very familiar with the situation.

Sorry to hear about this.  Corporate greed is a very ugly thing and the working man/woman are the ones who pay the price.

I hope the Eye of Sauron passes you by.

Dave you don't work down the hall from me do you? LOL
I'm 4 years away...if it's done my way.

No I'm not adversely affected. I have evaluated the system and the peoples actions and
believe it to be a very accurate determination of not only business conduct but unethical conduct.
Of course my idea of ethics is much different than corporates.

I am affected none the less. I see wrong and would like to be able to make it right and can't.
I will see people hurt and can't protect them...nor myself.
I see people out of control with controlling power.

Fortunately I'm in a position in life that I don't have to be a bobble head to bozos to protect
my welfare and smart enough to know that speaking sense or reason for my views with those is
a waste of time. History has shown that they have their song and dance routine and I'm satisfied
not to be in their show. A victim in the audience is all I can handle and obviously from yesterdays
performance I won't tolerate it for long and may not have to ever witness another. I did shock a few
but they can get over it...or not.

Thanks Bubba and Jan. Yep, didn't figure I was alone in knowing all to well about the corporate world.

HA!!   yeah that's ME jumping up and down with my finger in the air...  LOL

ethics.  key word there. Corporate America has little to no ethics.
That is exactly part of what I alluded to earlier.
I struggle greatly with that too.

Spacey,

I'd be curious what your company has as it's published mission statement.

After the 3rd it may not matter what I say about them. Until then "opinion" is safe and
I've given that.

In truth the company that I started with that made it well into the black was bought up by a company that was well into the red and facing many serious legal battles. We had money and they wanted it.
Being large enough to throw their power around they did. When the dust settled they had spent the money and the courts ordered all employees to complete quarterly ethic coursed for ten years.
We take tests for the crimes they committed...by court order mind you.
They paid that particular CEO over 8 million to leave. There have been a few more after him since then that made off very well indeed. (they too were paid to leave)
Published Mission Statement...shut my mouth.

Hopefully the young people who started out their adult lives in the midst of this latest economic crash will start steering away from the current ways of vulture capitalism and more toward sustainable business/commerce. The lessons of the Great Depression had been lost to history. Now that we've repeated those mistakes and suffered the consequences perhaps we will see a rebuild similar to the one that happened in the mid 1900s. Capitalist countries thrive when there is a healthy middle class and suffer when they don't. How these supposed business geniuses overlooked that fact is beyond me. If you take away ALL the money who's gonna buy your crap?

HAH!
