A very nice compressor from Tokyo Dawn records.

I wish a few of you guys (who know what your doing) would try this one. It seems very nice to me. I like the original a lot too.

I'd never heard of this so just downloaded and installed.
First thing is the CPU hit is pretty big. Won't notice too much on my system which is i7 64bit 16 gb ram, but older systems this might be a problem if you want to sue multiple instances I think.
It does seem to work in a different way to other compressors, and I had to READ the manual!!!!!
After a while of familiarising myself with the controls, got some pretty acceptable results.
However not sure if they are any better than what I use at the moment.
Did a bit of a trial with Cytomic the glue on the master bus - have to say I preferred Glue but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm very used to this and use it all the time.
But I do think this is worth keeping and experiment further with so shall do just that

Yeah it's still in beta. He said there is a cpu hit, but it would get better. I think it's really good for the master buss. I love to see someone trying something new instead of another sim of a La2a. I've  tried a lot of these free vsts and Tokyo Dawn and Vladg Sound seem to me to be very high quality stuff. I would like to have "the glue", but I've spent too much money lately! Hahaha. Thanks for trying it and letting me know what you think. You guys are a great resource.

I had taken a look at the first version when it came out, only to ultimately blow it off as just another compressor nobody needs. The whole feedback versus feed-forward concept sounds great on paper, but in practice I was unable to discern any difference. Maybe I just didn't know what to listen for. I'll give rev 2 a listen.

I'm a skeptic when it comes to compressors. I don't believe in mojo, and I don't want a compressor to give me "character". (If I want "character" I'll start a conversation with bapu.) I pretty much cover every compression task with one versatile plugin, so any new contender would have to be something special before it got added it to my first-string roster. (The Glue did not make the cut, either. Not because it's bad - it's great - it just would have been redundant.)

 I agree with you pretty much Bitflipper. I like the TDR feedback because to my ears it doesn't add character. I have been considering buying a mixing mastering suite (as you can tell from some of my other threads) and if I do, I'll learn it and use it. I sometimes have a hard time telling a compressor apart from another. Same is true for limiters.
  This leads me to looking at the free stuff as well as the included vsts in Sonar. I don't typically use compression much. A db or two of gain reduction during mixing or mastering is usually enough for me. I'm not participating in the loudness wars, I like to have as much dynamic range as I can get! Sometimes even 2 dbs sounds like too much to me.
  The pro channel stuff is ok, but I'm leaning towards T-racks, Ozone or a combination of things. The LP-64 eq, TDR Feedback and Limiter No.6 may be the way I go.

and....Mastering isn't something that needs to happen very much anymore. Usually I'll record one song and upload it and then another. I don't have many reasons to make collections or albums anymore. I kind of have a basic standard I try to reach and call it good. -14 to -16 RMS and -0.1 peak, is what I shoot for. At the end of a year or after 20 songs or so I'll do a little DIY mastering session.
