Thanks for the heads up.
I have been using Photoshop 6 for a long long time and this is a great opportunity to upgrade.

They are probably wanting users to migrate to their new cloud subscription service so this is a good PR device.

nah , it wouldn't have been announced otherwise and free = well their site gets battered bandwidth wise

Awesome. This is very good. Thanks, Fog. I love Illustrator and Photoshop. Haven't been able to buy them for a while cuz of my music and video editing software expenditures.

Unless Adobe is trolling the Likes of Forbes, CNET, GIZMODO, etc... this is for realz.

The site is just getting mangled because so many people are hopping on it. I hope I don't miss out. 

EDIT: Apparently they were... but perhaps unintentionally.
