Hi,
I have Cakewalk Music Creator 4, and I would like to create a new drum set using my Sound fonts. I've tried with the Drum Map Manager but have not been successful. How can I achieve this?

I'm not clear on what you're asking.  you have soundfonts and you're using them in what?  a soundfont player?  where did you get these soundfonts?  are they recordings of you playing drums?

I need more info on exactly what you're asking, please.

I downloaded sounds from a web site (Soundsnap) and created the soundfonts with Vienna Soundfont Studio. I am trying to use them in Cakewalk Music Creator 4 as part of a percussion set. I hope that clarified things a bit.

do you have a soundblaster soundcard?  if so, load them into the soundblaster and send your MIDI tracks to the soundblaster.

if not, does Vienna save as SF2 format?  if so, you can download a free VST from cakewalk called SFZ+ and load the SF2 soundfonts into it and use it as a VST.

I'm thinking the easier way would be to buy Session Drummer for $10 and learn to use it since all the sounds are already there and it works pretty good and sounds good too.

I agree with Herb on that.  OR upgrade to MC6 ($50, IIRC) and get Studio Drums included with it.

I personally believe either would be better than soundfonts you'll find for free.

I used to be a big SFZ fan and used a bunch of sound fonts when I first was getting started.

Now however, the things Cake has come out with beat the fonts like a dirty mule...

With fonts, the sounds would sometimes work and sometimes not.... depending on any number of factors.

I quit using them after my computer crashed and I needed to reinstall everything again..... I still had them all on a backup.... but I opted to let them remain off the reformatted machine.

I have not once missed them.
