Slim Whitman was unique. Not everyone appreciated his art. I must admit, he was not listed among my favored country artists, however, the man did have quite the following and fans of all ages. 
 
I think he was also a pioneer in marketing his music on TV commercials.  He sold lots of albums that way.
 
He was one of the country troubadours and he will be missed.

My dad listened to a bit of Slim and I remember how well he yodelled. I listened to some of his songs after hearing Eddie Murphy (Buckwheat) doing his rendition of Una Paloma Blanca (although I think it was written by George Baker). RIP
