Anyone ever use this additive synth? http://www.image-line.com/documents/morphine.html

A friend of my who uses Abelton and Frooty Loops recommended Morphine to me.  No not the drug.  The synth.  It is on sale until December for $40 or $45--I am not sure which price.  My friend is really "high" on this synth.

Anyone used it?

It is a nice synth, esp. if you don't have an additive synth.  I never really learned it enough to judge, but that was years ago when it first came out.  It looks a little more slick now.  But it sounds good - very smooth - and there were some nice sounds w/ it.  Programming it was another thing - I never spent the time to instinctively understand it.  Additive is up there w/ DX.  Theory into practise takes practise.

for 40-50$ it is a good buy.  ANd better if you spend time w/ it and learn to use it.

I agree with all the above.  I do really like this one.  But be careful ... some ImageLine synths are 32-bit only.  Just checked the product page for Morphine and it doesn't say, so do a little digging if you want to buy but 64-bit is important to you.

I like Morphine more than Harmor.....
 
All of Maxx's synths have attitude and most of them also have stable x64 betas now... Check the IL Forum....

I'm fascinated by additive synthesis and the resampling options inside Morphine,so I bought it to play around with..

I'm not using inside tracks right now,but I will start to incorporate it in time..

There's also great library sounds that come with Morphine to get you started...

Additive synthesis has a "digital" signature and I like that colour in the palette..

Back in the day I had a couple of Kurzweil K150's and Maxx's Morphine is a lot easier to handle  :)

Another good synth that Maxx coded is Toxic...It's a hybrid FM/Subtractive synth with more balls than FM8...

Sonar does not play well with some 32-bit synths.  I've seen problems when trying to do a "replace synth" when the synth is 32-bit.  I do not have j-bridge, which may or may not circumvent that problem.  At lot of folks on this forum have pretty strong feelings about avoiding 32-bit anything.  With patience (like avoiding "replace synth") you may be able to get everything you need out of a 32-bit instrument.  But there are fewer frustrations if you're dealing with 100% 64-bit plug-ins when running 64-bit Sonar.
