Speaking of radiation...
I went for a dental checkup yesterday and the cute little lady
while looking at the x-rays of my mouth on the computer stated
that she was going to take a full set of x-rays.
Well I had just had that done 6 months ago and she was looking at them...umm..
so I asked; why the x-rays? Are you looking at or looking for a problem?
She replied; Oh I'm sorry these are the full set they just made.
 
So with that resolved I said, ya know, I'm really not comfortable with the x-rays.
Why? she asked. Because you cover up my torso with that big heavy led blanket
and then shoot me in the head and that just doesn't make any sense to me.
Rather than giving some rational explanation she just laughed. Maybe there isn't one?

you're assuming the x-ray tech would have a clue as to why they do leave your head exposed.  she doesn't have a clue why, she was just trained to do it that way.  the "why" needs to come from the doctors and admins who put the procedures in place years ago for the x-ray techs to follow.

You're right. I make that mistake often assuming that people doing things know much about it at all.
