I tied out the freebie comp. Put it on a bass and heard lots of clicking artifacs from the plug.
Tried on elec guit. artifacs. not as audible but still there. Guess it may have problems with low freqs.

It seems fine here. Just tried it on a fretless bass, input +20. It's grabbing but no clicking.

I've not heard the clicking artifacts Tim describes. I have tried it on bass, but the effect was a bit extreme for my taste. I like to preserve a little punch in my bass parts. But for vocals, particularly BGVs which I like to smash pretty hard, it works well.

Maybe I didn't install it correctly. I just pasted the *.dll into my VST folder??

I did notice that the zip file contained an exe file that I paid no mind to. Anyone know what that is? (as I didn't find any install instructions either)?

You did it correctly.
Some don't like exe's & prefer dll copy/paste
Tony gives you the option of installing either way.

Yup, nothing to install. Just copy the DLL. The exe is an optional installer for...who? users who don't understand the concept of copying files I guess.

Maybe the clicks you heard were program-specific. Try it on something else.
