So Im upgrading my OS to Win7 64 finally, So I can run PT 9 on my main PC... I had Acronis true image on it already but since its an OEM version I will loose after the upgrade...

I have paragon on my ADK laptop, but I have never had to use it....

The main difference that leads me more to Acronis is the Acronis Safe Zone, I dont think paragon has such a feature?

So, Which do you guys think is better and what would you get and why?

Also any experiences with either??

I had terrible luck with Acronis on Windows 7, 64 bit.  I could never get it to work.  Even when Tech Support logged onto my machine (several times), they couldn't get it working either.  Although there is a 30 day money back gaurantee with them, they will make you work for it to get it back.  I finally did though.

I can't comment on the other one as I have no experience with it.

I don't know anything about paragon, but I use acronis.

I haven't had any problems using it with win7x64, tho.

Kurrykid: Is it possible that you had an older version? Supposedly they only recently added 64 bit support in True Imagae 2011

No I had the most recent version...I just went through it about a month ago.  I really wish I could have figured it out though because I was looking for that type of solution and haven't found anything to replace it yet.

kurrykid: What exactly was the problem? Can you be more specific about why it didnt work or what was wrong?

It would loose the connection to the network drive everytime a backup would run.  I was using a NAS (Iomega) and it just wouldn't connect reliably.  I read some forum postings about using the mapped drive instead of a letter name (i.e. //iomegadrive instead w:/backups) but that didn't work either.  Like I said, I had tech support log on from Acronis at least 3 times and they couldn't figure it out either.

I had heard good things about Acronis (our IT department uses it quite a bit at work) but I couldn't get it working for me.

I've used True Image countless times...
Paragon is also an excellent tool.
Can't make a bad decision either way...

Paragon, looks very interesting!

I notice they also have Drive Copy 11 Professional for $39.95, this might be all I need primarily to backup (clone/copy) my main h/drive C: (O/S, Programs, Drivers, Settings, Activations)! Easily transfer from one drive to another without having to reinstall programs, drivers, settings.

Question:
Is anyone familiar with Drive Copy 11 Professional,  is this ideal (successful) for backing up the main h/drive (C: O/S, Prog', Drivers, Settings, Activations)?

Isn't anyone familiar with that particular Pragon software (Drive Copy 11 Professional)?

I guess not.

There are other contenders, 'considering MY specific setup (XP SP2), and that I primarily want it for 'clone backup' (O/S, Drivers, Settings, Activations)!

  Other Backup Software:

. NovaBackup (apparently rated #1 for ease of use and reliability)
. DT Utilities PC Backup
. Genie Backup Management
. Acronis True Image (no need to install (portable) but there's been a few negative reviews)!
. Easeus Backup Tool
. NTI Backup
. Norton Ghost (no need to install (portable) can backup entire system but a little more complicated to setup/configure correctly)
. Power Backup
. Turbo Backup
. Paragon Hard Disk Manager
. Paragon Drive Copy 11 Professional
. DriveImage Free for personal use but no support, or from $100 for 5 licenses - for commercial use + support.
