Being on Mac sure helps skim through that list quickly.

One plug that caught my attention is (yet another) Pultec type EQ, by Ignite Amps, makers of custom (hardware) guitar amps.

These guy have some very good free plug-ins available for download, so that's one I'd consider worth checking out.

I'm on a pc, but it is a shame that Mac gets left out a lot. Some of these guys do really good work.

It's a very strong field this year with some really interesting entries.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hard to gripe about freebies, but it seems like an awful lot of the PC stuff is 32-bit only.  But it's not stated one way or the other o begin with ... at least in any of the write-ups that I examined closely.

A lot of them are 32-bit and Windows-only because they're written by hobbyists using SynthEdit. Even the ones that aren't are usually barely-beta versions with missing or unfinished features and plenty of bugs. So try them just for the fun of it and to participate in the contest, but don't expect to find any gems for your toolbox.

One exception to this might be the Proximity tool from Vladg, maker of the excellent Molot comp and Limiter No. 6.  I haven't yet tried it, but being that it's available in 64-bit and comes from a good family, it's probably worth a download.

I also find it interesting about how this year they are allowing presets and sample collections as entries.

Well I thought this year I'd do the decent thing, go through the list, download the ones that sounded interesting and give them a go, then vote accordingly.

Unfortunately as I think as Bitflipper sort of predicted, some don't appear to be very finished - in fact a couple of the ones I downloaded I could not even get them to install!
But I did get the rest to instal and am trying them out - some do seem rubbish but there are a couple of good ones - Variety of Sound (Bootsie) Thrillseeker seems very good indeed, but then all his other stuff is as well!

Shall give them a good test for a week or so before voting, just to be fair.
