Is Logic being discontinued?

I can tell you all with complete certainty that I have no idea.

If you buy a PC thinking that you're making a "long term investment", we'd have to define what investment means. At least, unlike PCs, old Macs have a resale value.

Also depends on what your priorities are as a "professional". I can assure you that my professional entourage as a musician consists of Mac users. Exclusively. Their primary focus is recording and producing music, so their computer is usually just a tool, not an interest in itself.

Avid isn't doing well.

MOTU finally decided to port DP to PC - which may be a sign of them struggling and seeking new revenue.

Steinberg has been sold a few times in the last decade.

Cakewalk first announced a partnership w/ Roland before it was bought by them.

Sony acquired Sonic Foundry.

A few months ago, Bias, makers of one of the most renowned audio editors on Mac announced they were going out of business.

So whatever your software and platform of choice are, you just can't take things for granted.

An older MacBook like mine sells for $600 and more on eBay. Which means that for a few hundred $, I get a brand new one.

If I were you, I'd keep my "OMG" for the next time you run out of parts to upgrade on your machine, like, when you have to decide whether to toss that PC in the garbage bin or in a closet or sell it for $20... ;)
