  • I've played guitar since I was a kid, but, for the first time tonight...

I'm giving the rosewood fingerboard some TLC. I've just received this:

There's probably tons of alternative - some much better, no doubt - but I figured this inexpensive package would do the trick. Where I come from, you play the guitar until:

1 - it's no longer playable and then you take it to one of the 2 guys who can maintain/fix guitars
2 - you have money to buy a new one

But, considering that I'm more inclined to want to take care of the Les Paul than the old strat - which I've never taken care of because I didn't mind if it looked like it was falling apart- I've started reading and found that a bit of TLC on that neck can help. Especially in a dry place like here, I guess. Unlike the strat, the LP is kept as clean as I can - strings and chrome parts are wiped every night, and I usually make sure it's spotless when I put it back on the rack.

Are there any other maintenance tips you guys have to share, little easy things that you do on a regular basis to keep your guitars in good shape? Or maybe suggestions for alternatives to that Dunlop kit above?

I would expect the Dunlop stuff to be pretty good....I used the 65 string cleaner and it's great.
