I AM...  A little upset!!  Black Friday Synth Squad Price Slash, and I couldn't resist!!!  Now I am stuck, having to learn and adjust again...   That's why I try my very hardest not to buy synthesizers..  I thought I asked to be stopped?   Going to spend several hours RTFM..   :-(

Epic fail!  Learning curve..

I see Waves has the CLA comp package on for $149. NI has their 3 pack of comps on for $115. I wish I knew something about Waves, like if there's ilock requirements. I know the quality is supposed to be very good. What to do?!?!?!?!?

I consider these to be HUGE deals.

I know this doesn't leave you much time to do so, but I'd strongly recommend downloading the demo and giving the CLA comps a try.

Rapture and Miroslav for me. Rapture for fun, and Miroslav because I actually needed to beef up the orchestral library.

So a huge $60.

The other more expensive things I had an eye on aren't on sale.

Though I did miss the opportunity to take advantage of the sale at Guitar Center.

Its definitely not an iOS accessory or app and when it does come out I'm going to say I told you so. Because, really, these are awesome. I've been testing them for a few weeks now and, just, you'll see.

I think both the deals are good but the Waves stuff is reduced from $500 to $149 and that's hard to beat. I really want a good LA2A and another 1176 would be nice. The NI products are by softube and I like their stuff but Waves is something I can't usually afford. I'll be buying without any demo runs so it's almost a coin toss. Great value vs great sound. What I really want is the best quality and sound. Hmm, I have a couple hours to decide.

Any big Waves fans please chime in if you think their stuff is the shizzle.

Consider this:  the NI Vintage comp bundle has a dbx160 emulation, which the CLA doesn't have.  If you like big punchy drums and bass, the 160 is the ticket.

As for the 1176 and LA2A emus, the CLA versions are a little more colorful and aggressive, while the NI's are smoother (to my ears).  Either way, you're getting high quality plugins.  Oh, forgot to mention: the NI's dry/wet control is very handy.

Caveat: I would never buy plugins without demoing them on your own material first.  Even if it's just for a few minutes -- you can usually get a feel for what they do pretty quickly.  Happy shopping!

Eddie

No DBX but, on the other hand CLA has the LA-3A and 2 1176 models - Blacky and Bluey.

John, I just posted a thread updating (well, totally discrediting is more like it) my previous statement about IK vs NI vs Waves.

Long story short - Waves pack in a lot more punch, probably even more than the original unit, and the possibilities in terms of shaping your sounds are, imho, totally worth it. It's a 1176 on steroids.

But both IK and NI come very close to the original as far as I can tell/assume.
