Hey, Laney, here's a cool video to whet your appetite while you're waiting for the UPS sleigh to arrive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB0oDEn2qwk&feature=related

I hadn't read those comments...they sound like a bunch of whiny teenage preset-punchers. "I mix my own guitar sound with absynth 5". Really?

Laney, you must have paid for the expedited shipping. I chose the free option, which I think means it's being hand-carried from Missouri. It won't be here until Saturday, which is why I'm watching the videos.

Apparently, Musician's Friend uses a service called UPS Mail Innovations. The "innovation" is that UPS picks up the item and then mails it. The result: 8 business days to transport a package 800 miles instead of the usual 3 or 4. I hope some junior executive at UPS got a fat bonus for coming up with that inspired concept.

Eggsaver shipping at Newegg is the same.....4 to 7 days....same scenario....just DHL picks it up and delivers it to the
post office...woopie...I think it would probably be faster if they just stuck it in the regular mail.

FEDEX invented this. Here's how it works:

FEDEX picks up at Sweetwater in Ft Wyane, IN (for example).
FEDEX drives the package to the Indy FEDEX Hub.
It goes on a plane.
The plane comes here.
It goes to FEDEX hub locally.
They give it to the Central Post Office.
The Post Office sends it to my PO.
The mail carrier delivers it.

Only takes 5 or so years to get here.

I love it. Not.

BUT it is free.

And mine doesn't get here til Monday and I live in Ohio. It shipped from KC. Go figure.

This must be a recent "innovation". Everything I've ever ordered from Sweetwater showed up in a FedEx truck and even large items took only 4 or 5 days to arrive.

I like FedEx. I have a gate across my driveway with "beware of dog" signs - intentionally unfriendly - that UPS drivers won't open. They just drop packages off at the gate (imagine finding your new $1k microphone in a rain-soaked box in the grass! True story.). But FedEx opens the gate and comes on in, armed with doggy treats in their pocket.

The good news is that the order tracker reports the package is here in town at the main post office, so it's at most 2 more days till delivery. I wonder: how the heck does Netflix give me a 1-day turnaround when I send their movies back?

Bit, I've used Fedex and depending on what I order and I guess(?) the shipping option I choose it could arrive "regular" Fedex or via the USPS from Fedex. I can't quite recall what items arrive which way.

My package went from KS to MI. I haven't checked today where it's at today.

Nova Scotia is possible.

UPDATE: It's at the Main PO here as of noon. Now they have to send it to my local PO. I guess I'll have it Friday.
Looks like I have to sign for it. Fedex or UPS usually don't bother with signatures, USPS always does.
