Keys and drums done in garage band. Is it ok to say "iPad" here? Imported into Sonar for guitar, vocals and harmonica.

Have an iListen if you want...

Nice song Starise!  I like the SC photo/ art as well.  Tell me more about your set up and what you used to record drums and keys.  I have just recently picked up an iPad and I'm learning my way around it.

Sorry, how rude of me!  I must have accidentally deleted my comment about your song.

I thought it was very good but (if I may), with a bit too much reverb.  Lots of other good stuff going on there though!

The Maillard Reaction

In all sincerity,

I think the lyrics and the vocal styling are the strongest parts of the song so far.

Thanks for sharing!

best regards,

 Thanks for the comments guys!

Mike- I used audiobus to connect sampletank into garageband. I had a midi keyboard connected to sampletank and I used this to play a few keys parts onto the drum arrangement.

Audiobus is the app that connects these programs. The drums were simply apple loops in Garageband. I'm not usually a loop user, preferring to use midi and one of my drum programs on the big DAW.

To get away from looped drums I downloaded Beatmaker 2 and propellerheads apps.  It might interest some to know that Fruityloops is now an Apple app and it ports to the big program. For the huge sum of 20.00 I got Beatmaker2. An expensive program by app standards.

If you search drums in the app store you will have hundreds of choices. Lots of step sequencers and emulated Akai type machines too but this isn't usually the genre I play.

The bees knees will be if I can make a decent drum track in an app and export a midi file. Several apps have drop box built right in so I could export to dropbox , retrieve it in the big DAW and use the idea in a project. In some cases the track might be that good that I might export an audio file or both midi and audio to beef up a weak track.

I'm still new to this as well but learning is fun! I wish Sonar allowed a direct import of AAC files. I had to make a conversion first. Not difficult as a converter was free online...still Cakewalk I hope you're listening.

Thats a cool set up of apps. Besides tons of IK apps I have, I LOVE Beatmaker.
