  • And another Channel Strip... (Mix Control Pro) UPDATE

Already mentioned it in another thread and this might be redundant if you own X1, but, if your still using 8.5 or are a GAS victim like me... I've been testing this cool channel strip by DNR.

The layout is terrific IMHO - it almost takes my entire MacBook display, but it's totally worth it. There's also a smaller version for those who prefer that. Makes sculpting sounds a joy.

Pretty flexible, sounds good, and the spectrum display is handy. Not too sure about the saturation though, but I'm usually not a big fan of saturation in such devices.

Oh yeah, and it's not too pricey.

I was a bit disappointed recently when I read that Mix Control was to be discontinued mid-August.

Turns out that there was a huge misunderstanding and that what they actually meant that they were working on version 2 - which will be a free upgrade for all version 1 users - though donations for development are accepted. Version 2 should be out sometime before the end of the year.

Version 1 i still available for as little as $49.

Awesome little plug-in - features one of my favorite EQ - and as light on the CPU as they get...

This looks like a REALLY nice channel strip... I especially like the "Stereo" section.  That's always a bonus if

it works well.

I mean, really, that's a whole lot of processing power in
a single channel strip...

AND you said it's CPU friendly...that's a major bonus...

How's the transparency?

Not sure I understand what you mean exactly by transparency. Sound-wise, it can be transparent or colored - you have 2 different compression modes and 3 different saturation modes.

The hit on the CPU is totally negligible - unless you've already almost maxed out your cpu, you'l have no problem adding this guy to every tack in a mix.

FWIW, that first version was programmed by Michael Olsen, formerly of Sonic Timeworks (the had very nice plug-ins, including an EQ that was bundled w/ Sonar for a while), now w/ Camel Audio.

That was the question...

Does it add color...which, as you said, is dependent on mode of use...so that's good...

I just got my Waves Gold (KA-CHING $97)....and Breeze ($49)...and want to get the Vocal Rider while it's on sale..and maybe Aphex...and have to put pennies away for X2....if I can squeeze this in there somehow I'd like to...especially since you get the next version free if you buy it....

I have had this for awhile and kept forgetting about it. Used it on a vocal track tonight and I really liked it!
Powerful plugin and no hit on the cpu, I like it.

Just purchased this instead of Alloy2.  Anyone know what will be included in the v2 update in Q4 2012?

Congrats on your purchase! Hope you enjoy it!

I have no idea what v2 will look like. And honestly, I don't know what part of it I'd like them to upgrade.

As is, when it came out, it looked and felt like someone had custom-designed a channel strip just for me, no kidding.

I guess I'd like to see a few more compression modes, but I'm perfectly happy w/ it as is. But I'd actually prefer if they didn't change it too much.

Thanks Rain for the info.
Bought it and have fiddled a little with it and so far like what I see and hear!
