I got an email from Cake with a $75 upgrade offer for X2 (with some additional software incentives). Should I jump in on this before the May 15th expiration date?

Of note, I'm saving up funds in order to build a new 64 bit machine and do want what everybody else wants in a DAW.....stability. I currently don't have any issues with X1, but if X2 is just as solid, it's aleays nice to have the latest version. (BTW, I'm only a hobbyist).

What do you guys think and how's X2 been for you so far?

is that $75 upgrade price for producer, studio or essentials (doubt it would be for essentials, actually).

I like X2 and I am happy with the price I paid for the upgrade ($99, IIRC).  but I've been on 64bit since X1 first came out.

it's really a matter of how much you would use the extra features from X2 verses X1.  I like the enhanced tools for the PC and the extra modules.  ATM that's the only features I can think of that X2 has over X1, but I know there were more.

Thanks Beag.....yeah, the enhanced tools are a big+ for X2.
Yep, the upgrade is for Producer.

if I had the $, then I'd probably do it.  tho, for myself in the future, cake's gonna have to up the ante if they want more money outta me.  I'm not using sonar as much as I used to, so the features need to impress me before I'll fork over another wad o' money for very little feature improvement.

Well why not? I was well informed when I asked about issues that it is ROCK SOLID.
It was narrowed down very quickly to two problems; Me not knowing what I was doing or I needed a new PC.
I've since learned that it is the only program on my PC that is ROCK SOLID.

Just looking at the specs in your signature I'd say keep your money in your pocket or put it towards your new pc. X2 needs the X2a patch to solve quite a few issues with it and X2a will not even load on xp or vista, has to be win 7 or 8, so unless your new pc is gonna be ready any time soon I wouldn't be in any rush to buy X2 because you won't be using it. CW seem to be pushing deals on X2 all the time now, so I think we're into milk it mode now before X3 or whatever. It's only going to get cheaper from here on in.

My new build will include Win 7 and almost everything will be new (except my project and samlples HD's). I'm going to use the old PC as a back up/let my oldest girl mess with X1.

$75 seems to be a fair price for an upgrade, and I didn't want to pass that up if it's "ROCK SOLID" as Spacey says.....rooight?

Yeah I understand that, I don't know if its "ROCK SOLID" or not, there seem to be a few that would say otherwise, but then agaon there always is. My point was really that as you said you were saving for a new pc, implying that it wasn't imminent, if you're not going to be actually using X2 any time soon, by the time you have your new pc it will probably be even cheaper  as the new version looms. Usually at this stage, the upstairs thread is full of ****ing and moaning about how people just bought the special offer and a month later it was cheaper. The last two product cycles have ended up at........ buy this version / get the new one free which seems a better deal if you're not even going to be using your upgrade for a while.

Naturally, if that turns out not to be the case this time round, I accept no blame for you taking my advice. ;)

No worries mate........
I appreciate all the advice I can get.

You do make a good point about  when the newer version coming out, it should be cheaper. I'm hoping to build this around the middle of June and just trying to get all my ducks in a row (starting with the DAW software). :)

While I do agree that you probably shouldn't even try to run it on nonwin7 system, I'm not sure i agree it will get cheaper.  History says $79 is as cheap as it gets and then the next version comes out.
