I had a neighbor like Mr. Wizard.

He may not be able to tell who makes the decals for Fender guitars but
he may be able to show me how...but I'd like to know both.

Maybe the Shell answer man...Help! I need somebody!...(sing along if ya want)

Decals?

Build up some clear lacquer layers on waxed card stock and then use more lacquer to hand paint a design over the clear layer.

Float it off the paper and into place. Let dry and cover with clear lacquer.

Good luck.

:-)

Yeah....all the internet how to ...tried one of the highest rater at Ebay...cheap....15 dollar gamble knowing it would suck. They did.
That embossed foil look of Fenders didn't come from on-line instructions and finding out if they make them, how to or who makes them for them...probably impossible.

  Thanks though.

That was how we made custom decals for our models when I was a kid.

The laquer paint we used was the stuff they used to called "dope".

I know....should I be surprised that there are people building guitars
and putting decals on them that are of the same?

No...and I'd carve my name in one of mine with a dull fork first...and
may have to.

I have found this and liking the idea of a press plate. I know of a builder
that inlays a metal, stamped tag on the head that is very cool...and different?

So, kinda like being at a ho****e, eh?  Hehe...  Stupid forum software.

I used to do a fun card trick with a friend of mine that would get the unsuspecting.  I would have someone pull a card out of a deck, make a phone call to Mr. Wizard and, when I put them on the phone, Mr. Wizard would tell them what card they had pulled.  Neat trick actually.

How we would do it is like this:

Whenever I called my friend on the phone I'd ask for Mr. Wizard and he would immediately start going through the suits (Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades...) and, when he said the correct suit, I would say "Yes, may I talk with him please?" then he would start going through all of the cards in a suit (A, 2, 3, etc.) until I heard the right one at which time I would say "Hi Mr. Wizard, I've got someone here who would like you to tell him what card he is holding."  Then I would hand the phone to the guy holding the card and my friend would intone "You are holding the [insert the full answer here]." before hanging up.  Hmm...  We haven't done this trick in at least a dozen years, might be fun to remind him of it!
