If you want to get the decals right you need a special printer. I know a guy with one and the big difference is that it has real metalic inks and proper clear film. When the decals are applied to lacquer they melt in. You can leave them on the surface but I tend to clear coat over top for that store-bought look.

I do apologize for my ignorance. Of course if I knew more about what
Fender has had done...well I wouldn't be ignorant and ya'll would understand
my question and quest.

I've tried to show in these photos the difference of the "waterslide" and the one
that I have no clues about.
If one has Fenders with both they'll sure see the difference easily.

This is the typical waterslide style that many copy with laser jet ( printing a reverse and painting the
metallic fill or border) NOT something I'm interested in.

This one however I am very interested in.
Unlike waterslides there is absolutely no indication of it being
a waterslide- if it is.
It has the appearance of finely cut metal of individual pieces.

Unfortunately after exhausting searches I've found no information and bombarded
with information about waterslides.
If this is a waterslide decal I sure want to know somebody that knows how to make
them or where I can have custom ones made.
My photo skills do not show it but this looks like chromed metal.

That almost looks like it is "printed circuit board" screen printed solder.

Are you sure that it is metal?  I wonder if sheet metal that thin can be laser cut that fine?

I'm not sure of much Mike...I'm sure it looks like chrome/metal. There
is no markings in or around the letters.

I'm thinking it may be silkscreened. I've started searching
but haven't turned up anything.

I use to have a Chevelle cap that was "liquid metal". The print
on it looked like chrome.

I found one...now if I can find out what was used.

Well, now you got me all curious... Any of these look like they'd do?  Minimum order is 250, but might give you some ideas, if only search terms... http://www.miladisplays.com/plasticscripts.htm

Lady gets the prize!!

I sure think this is what Fender may be using. Here is what I think looks
just like it.

At the bottom of page it states "Works great on pianos, guitars and cigar boxes" LOL
so YES cigar box guitars too!
Excuse me....just excited...thanks Jewels.

Oh, goodie!  I thought there might be something there, but didn't see the page you posted... Looks like just the thing.  Hope they will do a small enough run for you. Cheers! :)
