TouchDaw on Android.
But for the iPad?  Of course, I know how to google, so I'm not asking what apps are out there.  I'm asking if anyone has used an iPad control surface app and what their opinion on that might be.

Mystic,

thanks.  I'll copy that.

dmbaer, there was a flurry of threads a while back, but most of the interest was in android/touchdaw.  There are a couple of people using iPads I'm sure - I'm surprised they haven't chimed in.  I've got one so I'll try to track it down, along w/ putting touchdaw on my old andriod and trying to get it to midi w/ my music computer.  More things on the list to do ... sigh

Let us know what you come up w/ - I imagine Reece will be on the controller prowl too.

the ac-7 is a decent controller for the ipad.. prettier than touchdaw but it has its quirks.. being randomly unable to connect to sonar is one..though there is a simple (once you know) fix.. there are threads upstairs about it.

there's like 3 different versions of AC-7.  which one is best for use with sonar?

nevermind - I just need to read the descriptions!

Google search on "ac-7 sonar site:forum.cakewalk.com" returns a lot of hits ... much to look into further this weekend.

Looks like it could be fun without spending a lot of much money.

 Could you possibly hack it?

One of the assets of the android OS is the ability to tweak it, hack it, or blow it out and reload.

I have an ipad which I love and recently recorded drums and keys into it using apps I bought on Itunes. I converted from mp4 to wave and imported into Sonar. I know this isn't lossless but it sounds good....I dropped a few more parts onto it a few days ago in Sonar.... at this point I guess I'm not far enough away from my big DAW to warrant wireless. The two can shake hands in other ways.

I think I would personally be happy with a wired touch setup for  Sonar with occasional recording  in ipad and importing to work on the song in Sonar.

If Sonar ever comes out with a Sonar lite kind of thing that is cross platform I'm on that like white on rice.

You need to check if your Android version is even compatible. Some aren't.
