Since I'm so dang old I've owned about every make and type of vehicle made from British sports cars (my beloved MGB GT) to American land yachts (my infamous black 1978 Olds Delta 88 convertible) to vintage (completely tricked out 1954 Chevy) to insane (the used Corvair my grandmom bought for me and then sold before I could drive it due the the TV death trap reports) and all points in between.  For the last twenty years or so the Bear and I have owned nothing but Hondas.  This was due to them being such dang good vehicles and the fact that I had a "family friend" who sold them.  But about two cars back I test drove a Subaru Outback just because I'd heard so many good things about them and the symmetrical all wheel drive.  If I could've afforded it, I would have bought that Outback right then and there.  But finances and my "family friend" prevailed.  The problem was we always leased our cars, hence didn't have the required down to get into the tier of car we'd like to buy outright.  But this last time I went ahead and bought my little Honda Fit Sport and started building equity.  Don't get me wrong.  I loved that little Fit near to death.  They are quite simply the best bang for the buck car out there IMHO.  But I still remembered that Subie test drive.

Well, recently I finally had enough equity to get a new vehicle.  I went to the Subie dealer looking at Outbacks but fell in love with the sportier Impreza Sport Premium Hatch.  Plus I could get one with every gee-gaw known to man on it for less than a stock Outback...plus, it drove like a Lexus, handled like a BMW and (above 4000 rpm) ran like a bat outta h-e-double hockey sticks!

I've had it now for about 3500 miles and am totally smitten.  I love my Subie.  I've had faster...cushier...better appointed cars...even cars that we're more sheer exhilaration (although severely limited in scope).  But not one this all round fun and a joy to drive.  All wheel drive baby, it's the only way to fly!!

My inner child is back.  Look out, Hortense.

(Sigh) Dude, it's worse than we thought. Quick, start downloading these kazoo samples while we set up an I.V. with a Waves drip. Doctor! We're losing this one to the Car Culture and it looks like he's a bleeder, because he's bleeding G.A.S. money fast. Hang in there, ol' pal. We'll bring ya around. Doesn't anybody have a compressor? Nurse, we need an EQ over here, stat!

You use to own a Corvair! I've always wanted one. Elvis purchased a Corvair for Priscilla when he got permission from her father to move in to Graceland with him.

Ahhhh a Corvair! (Sigh)

Anyway ...what was the rest of the stuff you were talking about?

Why did he want to live with her father?

Because they had a secret fling no one knew about .
