Guys,
is there a .ptn to .mid converter utility (other than sonar or a daw)

I made a bunch of .ptn and want to convert them for a class.

thank you in advance,

If you are using 2.5.0 there is an export to MIDI option in the pattern editor.

Yes that is a great feature in 2.5, however I have 100 .ptn's to batch convert... just wanting to streamline.

Insert a blank pattern into the first bar of the project (not necassary if there already is one). Group select all the patterns in the track and merge (press m). Save the resulting pattern as a midi file. That should speed the process up.

Although this doesn't help with the current situation:

I've gotten in the habit of exporting my patterns as midi right when I'm "finished" with them, so I can use them in other DAWs (Sonar, Logic Pro).

Sorry, it doesn't help this time around, but MIDI files are tiny, so saving them in a logically organized way really helps.
I never used to do that, but... it's a small amount of effort at the time that saves loads in the future (not to mention that P5's pattern editor rocks).

Take care,

How did I know you were going to have that many patterns

That export to midi is very handy -- I can put stuff together in P5, save the patterns as midi, and import into Sibelius. Now THAT'S the way to transcribe music!

Cheers,

Russ
