I Have A RadioShack MD-1700 MIDI Keyboard...
when i plug a footswitch and assign it to SUSTAIN, it behaves exactly the opposite..
so when i press it, nothing happens, when i release it, notes are held...
even in SONAR, the press draws " ^ " arrow and relwase draws " v " arrow...
i have no other options in my keyboard to configure it... in my church we have a KORG PA-60... it has an option in its global to reverse the pedal... (from what i understood that ALL korgs & KORG Pedals have this configuration reversed....)

how can i fix this... (without having to open the pedal's wires and rewiring it)

You might try keeping the pedal depressed as you turn on the keyboard. This is the way my M-Audio KS Pro 88 works. It just might on yours.

Best

You might wanna try this MFX:

TenCrazy.com MFX SustainFix v4.0
url: http://www.tencrazy.com/gadgets/mfx/TcMfxSustainFix40.zip

Then insert that mfx on your midi track as a midi fx, I *think* it allows you to reverse the function of the pedal sustain.

Oh btw, you checked your pedal to see if it has a reverse switch first, right?

I had the same issue - tried to rewire it, but apparently did it wrong, as the pedal "orientation" was the same when I was through
I broke down and just bought on ein the right orientation. There are a number of pedals out there available with a switch that lets you choose the polarity.

There are two polarity camps... Yamaha and Roland. Other brands fall into one of the two camps. Try one, if it doesn't work, try the other.

This happened to me once - I opened it up and re-soldered the wires to change the action so that it worked as it should. It was all trial and error, but it worked beautifully.

There are two polarity camps...

Yep. I went to one when I was 12. The counselors were always so positive.
Then one day I crossed to the other side of the lake and snuck into the girls camp.
They were all so negative over on the other side.

Look on the pedal and see if there is a switch on the bottom. Some Pedals have a switch that will flip the polarity.

Good luck.

You have my deepest sympathy. Was Wal-Mart closed that day?
