Hi,
How do I use Sound Fonts with V sampler? I have some in a folder. When I go to import them, the V sampler does not see them.
Do I need to use a sound font sound card? I am using a Tascam USB 224 for my audio.
Thanks

You don't need a Soundfont soundcard.
There's two types of soundfont - Sounfont 1's and Soundfont 2's. It may be that the soundfonts you have are type 1's, because Vsampler only reads 2's.
If that's the case I think you could convert your 1's to 2's with the free trial (30 days) version of 'Awave Studio' from
http://www.fmjsoft.com
that will convert 'single' soundfonts (piano OR bass etc.) but not 'banks' of multiple instruments (piano AND bass AND...etc)

Have you checked all the Banks? Instruments might be asssigned to specific Banks; e.g. percussion instruments might be in Bank 128.

I am using SF2s.
When I click import and go to the folder where I placed my sound fonts it shows nothing in the folder (they are in that folder).
Thanks

Which file type is displayed in the drop down list at the bottom of the Import Instrument dialog box? I suspect it's set to something other than SF2...

It does say SF2.
The SFs do show up on wave import but, they sound crappy.

OK, back to the start. Try these steps:

1. Click the File|Open... menu command.
2. Browse to your Soundfonts folder in the 'Open a library' dialog box.
3. Select 'Soundfont Banks (*.sf2)' in the 'Files of type:' drop down list box.

Can you see the files in the dialog box now?

Ok you can slap me. I dowloaded the SFs from Prime sounds they also had the option of samples. I didnt realize this. I was looking at wave files..
I got the SFs working.

They sound like crap though. I am trying to find a good guitar sound for my samples. Any ideas. I would rather not go with Virtual guitarist.
Any thoughts?

Have a great holiday.................Thanks

From the frustration about no VSampler manual, I strated my own:

The dog-on-blues do-it-yourself VSampler manual

I got some home-made guitar soundfonts at: Dog-on-blues soundfonts
