I've been in this Forum a few times raving about different sounds.
But has anyone tried the East West "Fab Four" sound library?
If you are as old as me (probably not) this is a must to buy and try.
The producer of this great library is Doug Rogers and the engineer was Ken Scott who helped the Beatles record many of their best albums - Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour,Help, Rubber Soul, etc. He's also worked with Jeff Beck, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, the Hollies.
This library is absolutely wonderful and I can't sat enough good stuff about it.
If you are a real sound freak like me and love the sounds of a 1959 Gretsch Firebird, 1963 Gretsch Tennessean, 1965 360-12 Rickenbacker bass, 1966 Martin D-28,1956 Epiphone Casino, 1957 Les Paul Goldtop, 1963 Hofner Bass and I could go on and on - this library is for you.
I don't even get a commission on this!
Anyhow my figers are getting sore from typing when I should be doing scales.
So go to www.soundsonline.com and look for "Fab Four."
There are 3 very excellent videos you can download there explaining what I can't explain here.
This is huge if you loved the Beatles sounds - which is my generation.
I've composed a few tunes and presently looking for John Lennon to sing lead vocals.
Oh Yesterday.................

Love the Beatles. Love the library. Used in conjunction with other instruments and softsynths you can create some really great tracks!

And here I thought I was the only one that knewabout this Fab Four library.
Anyone else - this library is costly (sorta) approx. $400. but you can view 3 great videos for free explaining everything it took to get these sounds together.

FloridaMusicCo has it for $355.00. That's the lowest I've seen. I'm watching the 3rd video now. Talk about memories (and yes, I'm old enough!)

Susan:

I've 'watched' this product since it came out, but your link had some demos I hadn't heard before. Very cool, thanks for the link. I am really trying not to spend any money on this bundle - I currently have no client that could use it - all I have right now are these classical gigs.......:(

Is this with the Play engine or still the Kontakt Player? I parted ways with buying any new stuff from EW and soundsonline because of the Play engine, which if memory serves uses a dongle, which I ain't nuts about. I'd post over on the forums, but Doug Rogers banned me for criticizing some aspects of their marketing (I kept it civil, no foul language).

The Rickenbacker is a 12 string guitar, not a bass (although I did see a 12 string bass which had the 4 regular strings tripled like a 12 string guitar would have the normal 6 strings doubled at a Guitar Center a couple of years back. It was an OLD bass). Alembic did make an 8 string bass (4 strings doubled in octaves) - had one and it disappeared sometimes years back in the 70's.

I have been fasinated with it for decades. Somewhere in my teen years (73-79) someone alerted me that rolling left right with a beatles track would..... well, would do what it does

I think that that tracking and mix technology is absolutely groundbreaking and timeless. The balance is sooooooooo well massaged that you can fill a room up with the stereo feed and "see" and "feel" every instrument and vox and if you walk up and crank the balance full left or full right half the band goes away.

Mixes from the gods to me.

Oh yes I forgot cos it's plugged into my USB permanently.
There is an iLok dongle - which adds a few bucks to the total. ($30.00)
I guess you gotta pay to keep the musical history going?
In my opinion I was so wrapped up in the actual SOUNDS that all else seemed .........whatever.
But having crossed all those bridges - it's still worth the money.
You can go on forever tweeking sounds and that's kinda fun too.
I just wish my John Lennon would get here soon for his vocals.
He says he's running late.............Imagine?
