Thinking of Giving SoundClick the Flick!

Yeah! Not happy with the setup and the crap on Soundclick such as Beatz for sales flooding various top 5 charts and other users song uploads date back almost 10 years ago remain in the top 5.  And those popup adverts are annoying, some of those such as the work-from-home are scams, and sometimes the Soundclick pages don't load, or load very slow and the players won't play aghhhh!!!.

I know of friends and family who use to have an account with Soundclick but no longer do. Friends agree with me, they've complain about the same things I've mention; nasty adverts, beatz'er crap, pages not loading, players not playing and the player I embed on other sites will occasionally not display or play. Very annoying!  I've had friends E-mail me suggesting I give SoundClick the flick and sign up with other music sites....

There are a few other sites I'm considering such as;

Bandcamp
Soundcloud
iLike
Showcase Your Music
Music Submit

...and other sites already mentioned before on this forum.

What's your preferred site and have you checked out any of those that I've listed?

I also have my own site but I want to spread my music around by joining various sites and only if those sites, player and audio quality is good enough (no less than MP3 128kbps)

It's simply a place to host songs.
And, yes, it is a con.
Just like they all are.
It's all part of that long narrow trench in which we reside.

I don't really have a preferred site. sorry. And, no I didn't check those sites.
I just use Myspace and Soundclick cause I've been there forever and I've grown tired of learning curves.
reverbnation.com is used a lot also. And maybe Mixposure.

Probably the best "advice" would be to post on all of them I guess.
Throw enough against the wall, and eventually something might stick.

what is it that you are trying to accomplish?

Thanks Timidi,  appreciate your reply and suggestion!

Agree, it's probably best to try them all and see how they go.

So what is it I'm wanting to accomplish? errrr, winning the ten million dollar lottery would be nice!

sometimes the Soundclick pages don't load, or load very slow and the players won't play aghhhh!!!.

I get E-mails from friends who are getting annoyed about that!  This is one of the main reasons why I'm thinking of giving Soundclick the flick!

I'm curious to what others think about 'alternatives' sites other than; Soundclick, Reverbnation and Ourstage.

I'm not interested in charts, in fact for example I have retired all my songs from SC charts several months ago.

I'm chilling out (no, no, not the hot chili), just checking out sites that load fast, are reliable and NOT weighted-down with crap such as; popups, beatZ'er, more BeatZ'errrrs, and forcing visitors to register if they want to download my song(s) for free.   Also of course decent enough audio quality (128 no less) along with various nice player widgets with additional features/options; link to 'retailers' such as Amazon and CD-Baby.

Anyone checked out other sites such as the ones I've listed?

I used soundclick solely to post tunes for specific people. Such as the guys here on the forums or my son etc. All the songs I have posted are in relation to whatever was going on in the threads. One day it was bad luck then video games, holiday music, someone wants help putting together a song, add a rhythm or lead. Soundclick is fine and easy if all you want is a vehicle to get  a song posted. If you want exposure I have no idea where to go for that.

And, yes, it is a con.

How?

It's free, and we all know the shortcomings - we can decide to use it or not.

If the paid account doesn't deliver what it says it does, I'll concede that would be a con.

+1
So far, IMO, even the free version does what it says. That's not a 'con' to me.

Music Submit and Showcase Your Music has captured my interest, apparently similar to Taxi, but I'm not sure about the finer details.

My interest is mainly; 'Publishing', getting my songs submitted to publishers, A&R, for me to be involved in the writing, production, co-production.  And sell a few downloads and CD's, good audio player widgets that included links (user-options) to retail sites such as Amazon and CD-Baby would be cool.
