Hello guys,

I'm using Sonar 8 and currently I'm having a problem that's really affecting my work. A project crashed and I had it backed up but when I reloaded the file, the recordings are all in place but they're missing the waveform. It's simply blank.

Any ideas on how I can get back the waveforms?

For individual files you can try doing the following - Process>audio>gain and then do a 0db gain change.  This should rebuild the waveform.

This has worked for me in the past but I don't know what you would do for a whole project.

I think you hide the tracks. I havnt used v8, but I think it will be the same.

try this way,...
press M key, or dropdown tracks on Manu, select tracks manager,
select all tracks, then click OK.

this can do the trick.

you can also find the manager at tool bar on your project.
from right to left, the 3rd icon.

hope this help.

All you have to do is redraw the waveforms. No need to go running around your computer looking for cache files.

Click on a clip
Ctrl-A Right click on any selected clip
Properties
Clip Properties
Audio Files
Recompute Picture(s)

You don't want to do destructive gain techniques just to redraw a wave file. If you raise the gain to 0, you'll have no headroom for further processing and you may raise your noise floor unnecessarily.

Gain is not the issue. Just right click the clips that have no wave picture and select Clip Properties > Audio Files > Recompute Pictures
Or you can delete your pic cache and have sonar rebuild all the wave files. Either one will work. but do not do anything with the gain, as this has nothing to do with your problem..

Not a good idea at all. This problem is not due to no audio it is due to no picture of the wave form showing up on the track/s. Listen to CJ here or Scott.
