  • Constantly in the red on MIDI channel strips-OH I get it

Maybe this has been brought up, but I haven't noticed it.  Why are the MIDI strips flashing in the red constantly when you play, no matter how soft the notes are?  It looks like you're peaking out when you're not -- ?

EDIT:  This was instantly cleared up, but it remains a minor annoyance that the MIDI Activity Indicator in the MIDI strips looks identical to Audio clipping on Audio strips.

In 8.5.3 it's like that too ... it's not a peak value indicator, just an activity indicator for MIDI tracks.

Yeah, noticed this too. I assume it should be green as in active, not red for clipping.

AH!  I never noticed it in Sonar 8.5 because there the color was a cool, non-threatening blue.  It never registered in my brain as something to notice, but here in X1 it looks like clipping because of the color choice.  Red means clipping in the recording world, as Pathos points out.

And this is ironic, because I started the B&M thread (****in' and moanin') about the drab lack of color in X1, and now here's this surprising vivid RED in the program where it really shouldn't be.

lol! Drove me nuts at first. If there is not a way to change this, I think this should be added to the list of "to do's"

Yeah, it fooled me at first, but I knew that MIDI tracks had the 'activity' light in most prior versions so I just figured it out.

However -- why oh why DID they pick red??   That just doesn't make sense because, as you rightfully point out, Red "generally" is a color used for clipping indication.

I don't fully understand why we even need such an indicator since we already have MIDI meters.

Agree with that too. May there is a way to make them go away and I've just not discovered that easter egg yet.
