Keni....I went thru the same problem. I bought my 8.5, registered it and waited. I kept going to the store...waited for links....(repeat what I just said about 50 times) until:
I called Cakewalk Support-waited for about 15 minutes, talked to Lars and Ben (Techs) and they sent me links and the serial number for installation. It took CALLING to get something done. Since then things have been painless... tell your friend to call 800-CAKEWALK (when the automated operator answers dial 2 then wait for about 15-20 minutes) As long as your friend is registered it should be easy from there.
They are only open Monday-Friday till 8pm EST. Hope this helps!
