Hi
i was just emailed re the Acoustic Samples GD-6 library - as a guitarist I've never used one of these Guitar Libraries, but on listening to this, have to admit (darn it!!) that to me it sounded pretty good. I now know what drummers must have been feeling all these years!!!!!!

This works in the free UVi engine or MOTU Mach 5 - I have and use Mach 5 I expect that's why I got the email!

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this and if ALL guitar Libraries are set up like this one and sound as good (or better / worse) than this.

Cheers
Nigel

The Elya Efimov acoustic guitars are in the same league. The Orange Tree Samples steel-string acoustic is also up there.

There sure are a lot of convincing virtual acoustic guitars out there.  Another is this:

EDIT:  almost forgot, if you're on a budget (and have Kontakt), check this out too.  For the price, you can't go wrong:

Interesting - I honestly never realized there were so many realistic sounding Libraries out there - I remember seeing an old one years ago (Steinberg I think) and was very unimpressed, so ignored these newer one oblivious to the fact that they were getting better and better.
Shall have to start to behave myself, turn up on time (preferably sober and  without a hangover) and do takes in one go, no tantrums because the guitar won't stay in tune, or I can see myself being slowly phased out!!!!
Damn technology......................

To save anyone making the same very time consuming mistake I made with this  (very long and now useless download) be aware that  the demo version will not work on DAW's that are not connected to the internet.

Thanks for the links Eddie.

Looks like I dodged an expensive bullit on the 1st link, since my rig is kept offline.

But I checked out the indiginus link and like some of his things there. I just picked up Kontakt 4.2.4 earlier this month.

Hmmm... I must say that just like the original poster I was totally unaware of the fact that there actually were guitar libraries that actually was usable. I as well had totally given up on that.
I am a guitarist myself so I really wouldnt need sampled ones. But my current living situation makes recording guitars real hard. So it would be nice to just be able to at least flesh out some stuff using one of those with my laptop.

Hmmm... Really seems like I need to buy Kontakt. Damn... Does Native Instrument usually have any summer sales?

NI have a summer sale in June/July.

Komplete 9 was introduced late - April instead of September - so whether that has any bearing on the timing of their next (summer)sale we shall have to wait and see.

I'd still expect a sale - who would buy at full price?

Yes, as much as I generally dislike NI as a company, I have to admit that Kontakt is a good investment. It will ultimately save you money in the long run, because you'll have access to all those inexpensive libraries that don't have to pay NI a fee in order to run on the free Kontakt player.

Regarding the Indiginus acoustic guitar library: I have it; it's not bad at all and a genuine value. But there's a reason it's $40 and not $150-200 - it's simply more limited than the higher-end packages. Consider it only if acoustic guitar is not going to be prominently featured in your songs. If you can afford it, hold out for one of the higher-priced libraries such as OTS Evolution Acoustic, Vir2 Acoustic Legends, Elya Efimov, Ample Sound or RealGuitar (did I forget any?).

For those interested, here's a new song that shows off the Amplesound Taylor VST:

Sounds like someone there knows what they're doing ...
