Possibly just not enough rows of Step Sequencer showing in the dock so rows with hits are off-screen? Do you hear anything on playback?

I've got the same problem.  would love to know what you found.

looks like even though it's a step sequencer clip, the small icon in the top right of the clip is set to prv by default.  double-clicking the clip opens step sequencer, but looks like sonar thinks it's a prv clip.  so, click the icon on the top right and select step sequencer as the default editor... then, if you double click the clip step sequencer will open and those notes will be there.

I'm using X2a, but I have the same issue.  I can change the icon in the top right so Step Sequencer is the default, but it still doesn't show the notes in the matrix view. One time, I placed new notes in the new/blank SS window it opened, and now I had two clips.  For a brief time I could toggle between the two by double-clicking and could actually see the notes, but after some more clicking, they went away.  Not sure why they showed up for that brief time.

Ok, more info.  I found if I changed the tracks output to the different drum map that only had note names, that the notes showed now in the matrix.  So something about my custom superior drummer drum map that I created is causing this.  In creating the map, I started with the original superior drummer 2 map that gets installed when you install SD2. Then I changed a few names, moved some locations around and deleted a few rows and renames the map to a different name.  I then created a virgin SS clip with that new drum map. After doing that, I see the issue where the notes aren't shown in the matrix, but still seen in the clip/track view.  So something about my custom drum map has screwed up seeing the notes in the matrix view once I reopen the clip. In X2a you cannot use Drum Maps with the Step Sequencer. Probably not a good idea to mix X2a issues in an X3 thread.

Good point.. Ok, I will stay off this thread.  Can you explain in the other thread I opened why I cannot use drum maps with X2a?  thanks again.

Ok, so looks like X2/a is a no go for Step Sequencer and drum maps.  Unbelievable, but ok.  Can Cakewalk confirm X3/a doesn't fix this issue please?  I don't want to spend the $$ to upgrade if this is not fixed.  Can you or can you not use an edited drum map in the Step Sequencer window on X3 and have everything work as it should?
Thanks
