Hi Noel,

Speaking of Melodyne, the modify/repair/remove window that comes up during the Sonar 3XE patch installation...what is the correct response? I have the paid upgrade to the Melodyne Editor. I cancelled any changes. But was that the right choice?

That choice is from the melodyne installer not from SONAR.
If you already have the latest editor updates from Celemony then you should be able to cancel out of that...

Thanks Noel,

But why is the patch install even triggering a Melodyne install window? Can that be avoided in the future to avoid the misinformed from a wrong choice?

Yes please, or please at least document on the release notes it's confusing and people have screwed up here in the past. :)

Should the Melodyne installer even be distributed with your patches? (I though Melodyne  supplied updates via their site or autoupdate). Or is it just being triggered for some reason??

Thanks..

The X3E update is cumulative and includes all other patches. Since one of the updates included a new version of melodyne, the installer needs to run this. It is harmless to cancel out of the melodyne installer if you are up to date already, as I said earlier.

Right but it's not harmless to press some of the other buttons, and in X3D people were doing just that and having to reinstall Melodyne afterwards. They should not be expected to guess which option is best for them. This is the first thing people see what you run the patch! Please document in release notes at least :).

I still find it strange that the Melodyne update is being distributed by the patch (esp as we are getting undesirable effects, sure yes not the worst thing in the world), I think I should be done via a an entirely separate update, but that's a separate matter.

There was one time that I hit "repair" (or modify or whatever) on that Melodyne installer and it did absolutely no harm at all. I wouldn't worry about it.

Welp...I tried loading X3E without including any of the Melodyne stuff and my Editor quit working.  So I reinstalled and let it install the 64bit melodyne single track and everything started working properly again.  YMMV.

Yep I'm sorry Yorolpal, but apparently this is harmless

Tell that to this guy, X3D last time around:

But hey let's just leave the users to play Russian Roulette .

Why is Cake even distributing Melodyne as part of the patch? It just does not make any sense (should be installed separately, the patch is being run when it does not need to be run). I could understand if Cake had some version checking in the patch for Melodyne so it can detect if running the Melodyne patch is necessary or not, but it does not (half baked), and it's ugly.

In the meantime it needs to be documented in the release notes !!!!

I've run the SONAR patch installers and STEAM installer hundreds of times at this point. Not once did 'canceling' out of the Melodyne installer screw up my existing Melodyne installation. This has been across multiple systems.

Seth sorry I don't think you are understanding the actual issue, you are assuming users will CANCEL, some will not!
Some users WILL NOT CANCEL because they don't know what to do and are not technically minded like we may be.

Nowhere do you have this documented, so they are supposed to guess which button to press?

And it's just weird to run the X3E patch and the first thing you see is MODIFY/REPAIR/CANCEL or whatever it was.
We have also documented people who have been running into problems so it's not just imagination going on here..

Come on see my point here, it must make sense :)

Thanks...
