I can't speak for any hive mind, but I think five free updates is pretty good going, value-for-money wise. And I'd be surprised if there was one this late in the cycle; they usually release in Autumn / Winter.
fair enough, though i see the "free updates" as "free bugfixes" at least as far as the x-series goes
(eta)so was that a x3f or x4?
I'm concerned about the new owners of Cakewalk also. It seems to me there are some serious bugs left unfixed. Sadly I can't use X3, because of a show stopper bug for me that I posted here. If there is no X3F, I may decide to jump ship and go to a new program. I've already been burned once by X1. I couldn't use it because of bugs.
I've used Cakewalk products since the DOS days and there was only 1 version, Cakewalk Pro Audio 7 that almost no one could use and Cakewalk bent over backwards to make that one right. Let's hope the new owners will be as responsible.
In my opinion, bug fixes, i.e. making it work the way it was originally *advertized* to work,
should be seen as living up to the original contract made at the time of sale.
Then again, if there's a functional work around to a problem I don't think we should be married to an expectation because of an inability to adapt and keep making music.
