I have AD2.  I also have an assortment of midi drum loops, from (Groove Monkey, Smart Loops, Drag and Drop Drummer and EZdrummer) I was just wondering if there is a way to add these beats (patterns) for use in AD2.  As you can tell I don't really know anything about compatibility.  If the answer is yes...how does one go about adding them to AD2's beat library?  Also, will AD2 loops work in EZ drummer?

Yes, Addictive Drums can use Groove Monkee midi files.  I do not remember if they installed automatically or if I copied them into the Addictive Keys Midi file location.  When I installed Groove Monkee, it asked me to check a box for Addictive Drums along with other drum programs I had.  You might need to reinstall your Groove Monkee files if you have Addictive Drums installed after you first installed GM's files, and try to see if it autoinstalls the Groove Monkee midi files for AD.  You will then need click "Refresh Library" which is on the Beats page of Addictive Drum.  It will then take a minute or two and show you all the midi files available.
 
You can also check and see which midi files are in your folder.  My AD midi files are located in a midi user files at:
C: Users/your computer name/my documents/Addictive Drums/User Midi Files.  You will need to supply the patch for "your computer name.  
 [Edit:  i just googled this and saw that another cakewalker had his User Midi File in this location: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Documents\Addictive Drums\User Midi Files    ]
 
As an alternative, you can change the AD Midi Map Preset to "GM" and drag and GM midi file into your DAW and AD should play it.  This Midi Map Preset is located on the Beats page on the right side, two thirds of the way down the page.  Click on the Map Preset "startup" and it will show other mappings that it can use.  I would not do this unless you find that you can't import your midi files into the AD User Midi File location.  
 
I really think that if you reinstall your Groove Monkee files and check "Addicitve Drums" that it will install the correct midi files for AD and you will just need to Refresh Library. In AD1 there's a button to open the folder and another to rescan the MIDI on the Beats page.
 
In AD2 you can do the same via options in the ? menu.

For AD2...copy and paste into the external midi files folder. Documents, AD2, External Midi.

Just curious, where are the *internal* midi files for AD1? Can't seem to find them. What I'd like to do is import my EZD midi into the AD1 External MIDI files folder as discussed in this thread, but thinking that the internal file structure could help me model how to organize them to show up most conveniently in the Beats browser.

I'm going by short term memory here, but IIRC, it should be in your My Documents/Addictive Drums1/External MIDI
Possibly someone else might chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.....I'll check it tonight once I get to my DAW.

Yes, I know that directory.  Guess I'll have to put some EZD midi files in there and see which is less messy: accepting the way the AD (Beats) browser organizes them - or loading them from the X3 media browser.

FWIW, there is no need to physically copy anything, the DOS mklink command with the /d or /j switch is your friend.
