Hello

I have a number of instruments set up in Kontakt, here is how the outputs are set up...

The weird thing is the last instrument output is indicated as an "error" in Sonar X3E:

However the output actually works perfectly!
Anybody else had this? (This is the latest version of Kontakt).

Cheers...!

Alex

(It looks like Sonar is not parsing XML being send to it by Kontakt correctly?)

I have NEVER been able to have more than 6 instruments properly loaded into Kontakt and routed in Sonar.

For whatever reason, when trying to set the audio track routing in Sonar for instruments beyond the 6th one, it's just a MESS, like what you show.

So, for me, I always self-limit the number of instruments in any single instance of Kontakt to 6, and just use an additional instance of Kontakt if I need more than that for the given project.

It has been this way for years now - perhaps someone else knows how to work around this better than doing what I do - if so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post that info.

By the way - I don't know if you do this or not, but it helps me - I rename each output section channel name to something more meaningful and brief than the default naming Kontakt uses.

I find it easier on the eyes and brain.  :)

Cheers Bob
I've renamed about half of them so far. The thing is it works, it just isn't indicated correctly in the inputs within Sonar. I reckon Sonar can't handle the XML that Kontakt is squirting at it (the channel names), or Kontakt is squirting non standard XML.

The way I figured it - even if it works now - I'd hate to have to come back in the future to deal with stuff deciding not to work - which of course is true for anything, but since it is wacky to start with I figure it might quit working at some point.  Consequently, I just avoid any 'later' problems by keeping each instance to a max of 6 loaded instruments.

I have 32 GB of memory, might as well use it for something.  :)

Glad it at least is working for the moment for you.

By the way - I am about to reload my entire primary DAW, so I will be away for at least a couple of days - quite the nightmare.

Good luck - Windows 8.1.1. all the way!!!!

It's not really working for me because I wanna use all the outputs :). At least there is a workaround I guess.
I just logged CWBRN-27212.

STEPS
New project
Add a Kontakt 5 softsynth in the synth rack (16 outputs) and open it.
In Kontakt add seven instruments.
Under Presets/batch configurations select Batch funtions -> Clear output section and create one individual channel for each loaded instrument.
You should now have 16 outputs for Kontakt.
Close Kontakt.
In Cakewalk click Insert -> Multiple tracks, Select 7 tracks and insert.
On the last channel select the input drop down, then Kontakt and observe the outputs.

EXPECTED
All Kontakt outputs labelled perfect

ACTUAL
As expected expect the last channel contains the word "error" in XML format. I think Sonar is not reading XML being squirted out by Komplete, maybe it doesn't like the format?

Thanks!

I have had Windows 8 for a long long time, but hadn't gotten around to trying the Windows 8 drivers for my audio interface as of yet.

I may go ahead and bring it up to 8.1 now anyways, since I am loading it all up again.

Tip here. When updating from Win 8.0 to 8.1 only install KB 2871389 and KB 2917499 to qualify for the update, don't patch everything.. Saved a lot of time.. Same sort of thing with Windows 8.1.1. Obviously patch windows fully before installing any apps. Cheers.

Thanks - for some reason, I think I have an all in one Windows 8.1 install iso file I can download from my MSDN subscription (I am in the Microsoft BizSpark program, and get access to everything they have), so I will check that out, in case my brain managed to get a memory correct for a change.  :)

Anyways - While attempting to assist another forum member on Kontakt, I came across the following link, which looks quite promising, for a bunch of tutorials on Kontakt 5.

The following page is some kind of 'one-time offer' from them for you to sign up for en entire series of Kontakt tutorials on I believe 'Instrument Routing', plus they have a bunch of other stuff.

http://www.kontakttutorials.com/welcome/

I went ahead and signed up the offer - I have lots to learn about Kontakt as well, having only done standard loading and playing of instruments (and tweaking them), and I built a handful of sounds from the ground up - (I built the cash register coins clanking intro to Pink Floyd's 'Money' entirely from separate sound samples from all over the web.  I also built my own version - again from the ground up - of the clocks/bells/ticking/heartbeat sounds for the beginning of Floyd's 'Time').  But, that's about all I have done with thus far, so I think my going through some tutorials will be a grand and glorius adventure.
