I ran across a problem with the Octa-Capture drivers.   I had a PC problem that ultimately turned out to be a bad CPU.  However, in troubleshooting I replaced the motherboard (from a Gigabyte Z77 to an AS Rock Z77), before finally after everything else was substituted the CPU was replaced.   Everything appeared to be working OK but when I tried Sonar X3, I had no audio and when I pressed the space bar to play there was a long delay before it started (but no audio).  I tried several things, including an uninstall and reinstall of the Octa-Capture 1.5.2 (latest) drivers without success using ASIO.  However, if I used WDM/KS then it worked.  I checked the BIOS in the new motherboard and the setups, including the Device Driver and nothing extra or error was shown.

I tried my backup recording interface unit, an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R and it worked OK in ASIO mode.  So, back to the Octa-Capture.  I uninstalled the 1.5.2 drivers, rebooted the PC and installed the older 1.5.1 drivers and now the ASIO mode works.

I also had major issues with the octacapture driver and asio, namely in a  kontakt and X2/3 kinda way, where the project(s) kept crashing on startup. Since switching to WDM ive had no problems at all. Its definitely a Roland issue, confirmed by cake upon analysis of the dmp file, but Roland weren't interested.

Just out of interest, this happened on both an athlon based PC and my new intel.

I've had my Octa-Capture for several years and never had a problem before, with any version of drivers and ASIO mode.  I have a dual-boot on this PC with Win 7 64 bit and Win 8 (8.1.1) 64 bit.  The Win 8 installation had no problems with the motherboard swap (automatically installed all the needed device drivers) and no problems with the Octa-Capture (still worked OK in ASIO mode).  Just the Win 7 installation, Octa-Capture 1.5.2 driver and ASIO mode.

I don't think I lose anything with the 1.5.1 driver as the 1.5.2 driver was released to fix a compatibility problem with Windows 8.1 (1.5.2 is listed as Windows 7 compatible).

Hi

I'm having same problems with driver 1.52

Very unstable and most of the time doesn't show up in Kontakt / UVI.

Has this been fixed or is it due to be? If not, can someone please direct me where I can download driver version 1.51 as I can't seem to find it. And can this be used with the same system version as driver 1.52?

Thanks

Tim

Ultimately my original problem went away and I don't recall doing anything special.  The 1.52 driver works OK.
I am now using a Studio-Capture as my prime unit with the Octa-Capture as backup.  Both are working equally well, with X3 and now Platinum.  I have upgraded my 8.1 installation to Win 10 and they are both working OK in Win 10.

Hi

Thanks for the response. Mine is still an issue. I've uninstalled / re-installed and sometimes it shows up in Kontakt and sometimes it doesn't.

It def doesn't show up (ASIO) in ARIA player (Garritan) and also UVI player (True Keys).

Do you know where I can get the 1.5.1 driver to try?

Thanks

Tim

You've run the latest Roland system program?
Try going to the intel driver update site, and making sure windows update is up to date.
I hope you've not installed ASIO4ALL anywhere, if so remove.
